Zoom Video Communications, Inc. is an American communications technology company headquartered in San Jose, California. It provides videotelephony and online chat services through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform and is used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, distance education, and social relations.

Let we discuss why we need to lag our own voice/video in meeting.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic situation education is virtually started, most of the mass is trying to abjure online classes. While examination includes online live viva of students so however, they need to escape with any reason so today I am here with you all guys how to lag your voice/video in a meeting.

what is bandwidth requirement of zoom :

The bandwidth used by Zoom will be optimized for the best experience based on the participants network. It will automatically adjust to 3G, WiFi, or wired environments.

Recommended bandwidth for meetings and webinar panelists:

  • For 1:1 video calling:
  • 600kbps (up/down) for high-quality video
  • 1.2Mbps (up/down) for 720p HD video
  • Receiving 1080p HD video requires 1.8Mbps (up/down)
  • Sending 1080p HD video requires 1.8Mbps (up/down)
  • For group video calling:
  • 800kbps/1.0 Mbps (up/down) for high-quality video
  • For gallery view and/or 720p HD video: 1.5Mbps/1.5Mbps (up/down)
  • Receiving 1080p HD video requires 2.5Mbps (up/down)
  • Sending 1080p HD video requires 3.0Mbps (up/down)
  • For screen sharing only (no video thumbnail): 50–75kbps
  • For screen sharing with video thumbnail: 50–150kbps
  • For audio VoiP: 60–80kbps
  • For Zoom Phone: 60–100kbps

Recommended bandwidth for webinar attendees:

  • For 1:1 video calling: 600kbps (down) for high-quality video and 1.2Mbps (down) for HD video
  • For screen sharing only (no video thumbnail): 50–75kbps (down)
  • For screen sharing with video thumbnail: 50–150kbps (down)

It requires only 60–80kps for audio VOIP and 200 kbps for video/audio sharing.

Our internet provide us to 1Mbps high data speed in normal day. We don’t require that much data rate to lag our voice so we need to limit/block high datarate however that our meeting software cannot achieve it.

Here we need to install software called NetLimiter for Windows user

NetLimiter is an ultimate internet traffic control and monitoring tool designed for Windows. Finally, you will become master over your internet connection.

Download from the given link — Download Netlimiter 4

Open the software with administrator right (run as administrator) and select your zoom meeting software.

  • Set the UL (upper limit) to 2–3 caps for a general Audio meeting. Set 2–3kpbs to lag your voice and no one can able to hear you, if you want to set it with a gap, then set it to 5 kbps-8kps it will spare your voice with delay
Setting the Upperlimit in zoom

Similarly you can setup upper limit for all other meeting software.

For Android user, such application is not available if user having a rooted phone then

What about Non-Rooted User ?

For the non-rooted User, it is a bit difficult job, but don’t worry guys, I am having two tricks which you can use and works very fine, I have already tested them.

  • The first task is so simple just put any huge file on torrent download which can take away your whole data speed and zoom will start to get less bandwidth/internet speed.
  • I tried to use a VPN, a free VPN server may provide you less internet speed then actually you are getting without VPN (don’t try with good VPN), try with some worst. Bad VPN which can work given us our requirement. So some of them are

1. HOLA VPN

2. EASY VPN

3. ZENMATE

4. HIDE MY ASS

5. IP-SHIELD VPN

6. OPERA FREE VPN

7. SUPERVPN
